Just east of Yellowstone, the historic Cody Rodeo serves as the backdrop for a unique ministry led by Pat and Renee Alphin. Pat founded Cody Cowboy Church in 2017. The church reaches cowboys, ranchers, locals, and tourists alike.
Pat and Renee’s ministry includes worship services, parking assistance, and a free bunkhouse for young rodeo cowboys. Cowboys must follow three simple requirements to live in the bunkhouse: attend church, obey house rules, and live by a Cowboy Code of Conduct.
Many of the rules the cowboys are to live by are rooted in Colossians 3:23. This code emphasizes responsibility, respect, honesty, and integrity. It also encourages the young men to strive for excellence both in the rodeo arena and their personal lives.
Pat and Renee also serve cowboys with a video coaching program that helps riders improve their performance.
With Pat’s background as a former bull rider and saddle bronc competitor, he deeply connects with the rodeo community and offers both mentorship and spiritual guidance.
Involve your teenagers in ongoing missions discipleship and empower them to discover their own roles as disciples of Jesus who live on mission. Through each unit of Missions Journey: Students, teens will meet missions personnel serving all around the world, be encouraged to grow in discipleship, and become active agents of gospel change in their own communities.
This fully-digital resource contains plans for four weekly sessions, including links to the missions videos, missions project ideas, supplemental activities, prayer activities, and a leader devotion.
This material is designed for students in grades 7–12. WMU recommends adult leaders preview all lesson and video content before sharing it with their students.
